Mazda safety features are designed to help protect drivers and passengers, but what happens when a vehicle is stopped along the roadside? Through a new partnership with AAA and HAAS Alert, Mazda is extending its approach to safety beyond the vehicle itself. At Northtowne Mazda, we're excited to share how this collaboration helps make roadside emergencies safer for everyone.
Extending Protection Beyond the Vehicle
A breakdown or unexpected roadside stop can leave drivers and passengers vulnerable to passing traffic. Approaching motorists may not notice a disabled vehicle until they're dangerously close, increasing the risk of a secondary collision.
Mazda is addressing this concern by working with AAA, a leading roadside assistance provider, and HAAS Alert, a company specializing in connected vehicle safety technology. Their collaboration introduces an additional layer of protection by helping approaching drivers recognize roadside hazards before reaching them.
How the New Roadside Safety Alerts Work
When an eligible Mazda customer requests roadside assistance through the MyMazda app or by phone, a local AAA-affiliated service provider is dispatched to help. At the same time, the partnership uses HAAS Alert's Safety Cloud® Protect technology to deliver digital safety alerts to approaching motorists. These "Slow Down, Move Over" notifications can appear through compatible vehicle displays and mobile navigation applications in supported markets.
The alerts give approaching drivers advance notice of a stopped vehicle, encouraging them to reduce their speed and move over when possible. By providing this warning before motorists reach the scene, the technology helps reduce the risk of secondary collisions. The service is currently available for eligible Mazda vehicles with 24/7 emergency roadside assistance.
